Main Street America 2024 Accredited Program

A Main Street organization.

The Main Street movement grew out of a recognition that a community is only as strong as its core.

The heart of our community.

In 2018, Downtown PKB joined the Main Street organization to strengthen the local community and further support Main Street America's mission. Since 2021, Downtown PKB has been recognized as an Accredited program, meaning that we continue to support our downtown's growth and revitalization.

Over the last four decades, the Main Street movement has proven that downtowns are the heart of our communities and that a community is only as strong as its core. Main Street empowers communities to set their own destinies. While revitalization is challenging work, the Main Street program offers a roadmap for locally-owned, locally-driven prosperity. Across the country, thousands of communities have used the Main Street Approach to transform their economies, leverage local leadership, and improve the overall quality of life.

As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, Downtown PKB is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ Accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by Main Street America.
